Strawberries and RaspberriesWe erected six large polytunnels in 2004 to grow protected strawberries for selling direct off farm and to local delicatessans.

The strawberries are grown in peat bags suspened on wires. This eliminates the need for any weedkillers and slug repellents and ensures clean, easily picked fruit.

In 2005 we erected 2 further polytunnels. One for more strawberries and one to grow raspberries.

There is an area of outdoor raspberries which we grow on the banks of the River Teith on well draining sandy soil.

We also have a small number of fruit bushes which produce blackcurrants, redcurrants and gooseberries.

We do not use any chemicals on this fruit and they are used in our homemade jams.

In our small orchard we grow plums, apples and pears. These are used in our own jams and chutneys.
